Stephanie Liles Takes Out 3rd Place at St. Anthonys!

As Reported by Jagged.com

Name: Stephanie Liles

Race Date: 26th April 2009

Race Type: Olympic Triathlon

Race Name: St Anthonys Triathlon

Location: Florida USA

Overall Result: 3rd Elite Amateur Woman Overall

The Race: Huge race! 5000 participants. Neat event and very well organized. Had wonderful prizes too! Typical Florida race, hot, flat and fast. Love it! Beautiful area, very tropical.

Race Day Woke up very early, since the Elite Amateurs were to go off right after the Pro Triathletes. Got to race site and heard that the water was too rough, that they couldn't even get the kayaks out. After a difficult decision, they took the swim portion out of the race. In our waves, we would do a time trial start from where we would get out of the water. With my aero helmet on, I took off towards transition.

Bike leg was tough, because there was a ton of turns. As soon as I got to great speed, it was time to slow down and turn.

Run course was great! An out and back, flat run course. We had incredible scenery too! The homes along the run course were amazingly huge! The run course was also along the water. Just beautiful! I felt amazing on the run too! The 10k flew by and before I knew it, I was crossing through the finishline!
