Thomas is USAT Age Group Triathlete of the Year!
LifeSport Proud to Have Overall Age Group Athletes of the Year in Both the US and Canada
Feb 01, 2010

USAT announced their selections for the best of 2009 and leading the way was LifeSport's Chris Thomas who captured the prestigious "Age Group Triathlete of the Year" award.  This honour goes out to the most accomplished amateur triathlete in all of the US.   Chris, a working father of 3 and now LifeSport Coach, had a brilliant year highlighted by 5 top 10 overall Ironman 70.3 placings (including the pros!) and the 70.3 World Championship title in the 35-39 age group (winning by over 6 minutes).  Lindsey Whalen, an age group athlete from Chicago and fellow LifeSporter, also received Honorable Mention for the same award!  Two leading triathlon magazines also announced their selections for "Triathletes of Year" this week and LifeSport was well represented!  Magali Tisseyre claimed Triathlete Magazine's 70.3 Athlete of the Year and place on the front cover.

Triathlon Magazine's Canada's selection for Overall Age Group Athlete of Year was Edmonton's Margie Ritchie.  In a breakthrough season, Margie took the World Titles in both the Olympic and Duathlon distances in the 50-54 age group  where she dominated on the run.  Margie, a mother, doctor, and breast cancer survivor, posted a 39 minute 10k split at ITU World Championships, 4 minutes faster than the next competitor, to take the title over 70 other women.  Triathlon Magazine Canada also named Brent McMahon the Elite Long Distance Athlete of the Year after his strong Ironman 70.3 victory in New Orleans.   LifeSport Age Group athlete, Sabrina Jardine, another "super mom", received an honourable mention as the Age Group Long Distance Athlete of the Year after her top overall age group placing at Subaru Ironman Canada, and Magali Tisseyre also received an honourable mention as the Overall Elite Athlete and Long Distance Athlets of the Year.  Congrats to all of these amazing athletes – everyone at LifeSport is very proud to have you on the team!
